Guidance needed for Micrometer tracing integration (Issue #1368)

Hi everyone
I’m Anjali, a 3rd-year CSE student focusing on Cloud & DevOps. I’ve recently started contributing to the OpenTelemetry Demo and opened a documentation PR.
I’m interested in working on issue #1368 (Micrometer Spring Boot 3 tracing integration).
Before starting implementation, I wanted to clarify a couple of points:

1. Would it be better to enhance an existing Java-based service (like Ad Service), rather than adding a new service?
2. Is there a preferred approach for tracing:
   • Micrometer native OTLP export
   • or OpenTelemetry Java agent?

I’d appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to approach this.
